Blink 182: “No End Game, No Plan and No Practice”
Fans, and even non-fans of Blink 182 music can be rest assured that the band is in for the long haul.
After the announcement of their reunion following their appearance in this year’s Grammy awards, a lot of people have doubted the trio’s commitment to sticking together as a group for a long time. There were qualms about the whole scenario as being a one-time thing: making a releasing a record, going on tour, and then disappearing once again.
But all speculations about their reunion having legs were completely answered when the group talked to the San Diego Union-Tribune and said that they intend to record and go on tour as long as they are having total fun.
That should make all you Blink 182 fans out there rest easy. With the current state of the trio, which is evident on the amount of jokes they have been coming up with, you will see that they are indeed, having a lot of fun together.
So they really are in this thing for good. No worries about fading in the background after the release of another record or once a tour wraps up. They will be continuing to make good, fun music.
It’s understandable how other people doubt how long Tom, Mark, and Travis are planning to stick together. It’s no question each of them have already started their own projects after they disbanded more than four years ago.
Tom has Angels & Airwaves; Mark and Travis have worked together on releasing a record previously. It would be no surprise if they suddenly decide to disband again and go back to their side projects.
But, as they have told their hometown newspaper, they are in it for good—as long as they’re having fun, at least.
“I hate when bands get back together and do one tour, and it feels like they’re going to make a bunch of money, and then they go away for a while and then come back again,” Mark said in the interview. “We did this [reunion] to continue being creative and having fun. I see us continuing to tour and put out albums as long as it’s fun. There’s no end game and no plan at all. We enjoy playing music together, that’s all.”
The carefree attitude is still what makes this trio something to look forward to. You’ll never know what they have up in their sleeves. Take their upcoming tour as an example. In a separate radio interview, Blink 182 took suggestions from their fans calling in the show. They were looking for title suggestions for the show, which Tom has promised to have “lasers,” and came up with “One way Ticket to Boneville.”
About the title, Mark was quoted: “I don’t know if anything’s gonna top that.”
