Blink 182 Prepares for Summer Tour

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

During the 51st Grammy Awards, the trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker, collectively called Blink 182, announced on stage that they are getting back together after a 4-year hiatus.

Now, months after the announced reconciliation, the band has announced that they will be recording their comeback album. The trio has already started work on the record and a plan for a possible tour which will take off this summer.

They started writing new materials for the records months ago. Right now, they are busy booking the upcoming tour. As a matter of fact, they put recording of the new album on hold to rehearse for the upcoming tour. In Mark Hoppus’ twitter update, he says how the band’s rehearsal is going “blink rehearsal today was great. more songs added to the set. lots of stuff to get ready. very busy times behind the scenes. cannot wait.”

With regards to their upcoming record, rumors have surfaced on the Internet about the band releasing a track called “Reborn” in June. Hoppus cleared this rumor in his twitter account saying that the band has no intention of releasing a track called “Reborn.”

The next album is said to have heavier and more experimental sound in it. Hoppus is excited about the edginess of their new record. Motion City Soundtrack’s signature, the band they are working with, can also be identified in the songs, which adds to the catchiness of the record.

As for the tour, Hoppus does not rule out the possibility of bringing along with them Motion City Soundtrack with them on the road. Blink 182 is currently working with the band in their upcoming album.

“We’re still booking the Blink tour for this summer, so we’ll see how that all ends up working out,” he said. “I would love to tour with Motion City. They’re a really cool band to tour with, and they’re great live, so I wouldn’t be angry at that.”
